| Social accountability has always been a prominent endeavor for any government hospital and the Institute has been consistent in that effort. The Institute has the Social Service office that specifically gives special attention to patients needing intervention from the hospital. This office helps patients and families alleviate the social, emotional and economic difficulties brought about by their illness or hospitalization. Patients Referral and Intervention Policies |
| |
The Institute strictly adhere to certain policies to ensure that only those properly referred or classified service patients are provided assistance and care by the hospital. All patients brought into the attention of the Social Worker through referral from other hospitals, private practitioners, welfare agencies or as walk-in patients, who have requested social service interventions / assistance are immediately entertained.
The social worker conducts screening activities to determine the needs of patients and provide necessary information and appropriate services. Referrals are also provided to patients if found not qualified for the service.
|
| |
- Referrals from other hospitals for any diagnostic / examination should be accompanied by a referral letter addressed to the Executive Director of NKTI. If the patient has already been classified as “Service” by the referring hospital, a clinical abstract and the social worker’s evaluation should also be brought;
|
- Patients needing kidney transplant should have a medically qualified donor, preferably a living-related donor;
|
- Patients from other hospitals or under the care of a private medical practitioner who want to avail of the kidney transplant program should also secure an endorsement letter from his attending physician
