The FISH Laboratory

This laboratory performs DNA-based assays utilizing Fluorescent-In-Situ-Hybridization (FISH). FISH finds application in various clinical situations for diagnosis and prognostication. Target DNA is labeled with fluorescent dye for detection and quantification utilizing a state-of-the- art computerized FISH imaging system. At present the laboratory performs assays for various cancer diagnostics e.g. gene translocations for Leukemias, DNA aberrations for breast and bladder cancer. In addition, Karyotyping (G-Banding) for various genetic diseases and malignancies are also routinely done.
