The Department of Laboratory Medicine of the National Kidney & Transplant Institute is unlike any laboratory service in other tertiary medical centers in the Country. The department is made up of three major divisions:

Each division is arrayed with state-of-the-art instrumentation, managed by professional staff with highly specialized expertise. This structure is imperative because the medical center which it serves is the lead hospital in organ transplantation in the country. Tissue Typing, Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization(F.I.S.H.), Flowcytometry , Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR ), HPLC Technic , and DNA Analysis, Virology, and immunofluorescence in renal biopsies are routinely done.
