The Hematology Laboratory performs blood counts for blood and body fluids. Highly trained staff can differentiate abnormal cells from the normal cells in the peripheral blood smears.

The section is the first in the Philippines to set-up the factor assay most specifically the Factors 8, 9, and 11 to guide the clinicians in the diagnosis of Haemophiliacs or factor deficient patients. Hematology laboratory also performs the different screening tests for bleeding disorders like the Bleeding Time, Clot Retraction Time, Prothrombin Time, activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and Thrombin Time. Qualitative and Quantitative Fibrinofen degradation product and Fibrinogen Level. In addition, the Hematology also performs Clotting Inhibitor Assay - Lupus Anticoagulant or the Kaolin Clot Time (KCT).

Special tests are also done like the HAM'S Test, Sucrose Lysis Tests, LE prep, detection of Malarial parasite including the identification and counting of parasites.
