INTRODUCTION

For the individual learner, the function of training and development needs to be one of providing an environment and resources that facilitate learning and maturing process in each person. The goal of staff education is to enable the staff to learn under conditions that foster changing behavior. As learning occurs, personal experiences are translated into new and different ways of behaving.

The training and development function in an organization involves a multifaceted purpose and definition. Training is an activity primarily directed at improving an employee’s current job performance.

The IANAHP is the section tasked to assist the staff achieve his training and development needs. Aside from in-service activities, the IANAHP, as a training arm of the Department of Health, also offers specialty courses and nursing updates for other institutional and organizational representatives (nurses and allied health professionals).

We are committed to provide high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective education and training programs to nurses and allied health professionals. We shall endeavor to continually improve our methods and system of education and training to promote the highest standards of the nursing profession and other allied health courses.

QUALITY OBJECTIVES

The Quality Policy of the IANAHP shall be achieved by ensuring the following:

  1. The management and staff meet the minimum qualification standard set for academic faculty.
  2. Equipment, facilities, supplies and academic resources required for education and training are updated and at par with international standards.
  3. The academic methodology is well defined and continually improved to meet prescribed statutory and regulatory requirements.
  4. A learning culture characterized by compelling delivery of new insights in health care and dynamic exploration of nursing issues and issues confronted by allied health professionals.

Requirements
General

   3. Professional Regulation Commission License
   4. Philippine Nurses’ Association Membership Card
   5. Intravenous Therapy Card
   6. Basic Life Support Card (adult, pediatric and infant) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card
   7. Recommendation Letter from Dean or Clinical Instructor
   8. Record of Vaccination for Hepatitis B
   9. Chest X-Ray

Basic Skills Training (4 months)

Focuses on developing the nurse’s knowledge, skills, and values from novice to competent, to prepare him for employment either locally on internationally.

1. General Requirements
Dialysis Training (6 months each)

Addresses the multi-faceted needs of a patient on dialysis that will equip the nurse on how to holistically care for them.

  2. Certificate of Employment for at least 6 months in a 150 bed hospital or Certificate of Attendance to IANAHP’s Basic Skills Training
  3. Renal Nurses Association (RENAP) Membership Card

Peri-Operative Nursing (6 months)

A specialization which teaches good judgment and critical thinking during surgical procedures and at the post-anesthetic care unit to make the nurse ahead of his league.

  2. Certificate of Employment for at least 6 months in a 150 bed hospital
  3. Operating Room Nurses Association (ORNAP) Membership Card
  4. Nasal Swab Culture

Preceptorship Program for Clinical Instructors      

Equips the trainee with teaching-learning strategies both in the classroom and at the bedside. Prepares him on his preceptor-mentor roles.

  1. General Requirements
  2. Certificate of Employment for at least 6 months in a 150 bed hospital or Certificate of Attendance to IANAHP’s Basic Skills Training
  3. Renal Nurses Association (RENAP) Membership Card or any specialty organization
  4. Certificate of Employment from College of Nursing where applicant is affiliated
