Department of General Surgery

The Surgical Services was one of the first departments to be established during the opening of the National Kidney Foundation of the Philippines(NKFP) on January 6, 1983. Under this department were divisions of Urology, Transplant and Vascular Surgery, Anesthesiology, Experimental Animal Surgery, Pediatric Urology and General Surgery. Dr. Pacifico Yap first headed the General Surgery Department.

With the turn of the new millennium, The Department of Surgery became one of the most dynamic and active training departments of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI). The department is proud to have a consultant staff, each respectable and dedicated in the field of General Surgery and its subspecialties which includes: Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Obstetric and Gynecology, Otorhinolaryngology, Opthalmology and Transplant and Vascular Surgery.
