Fellowship Training Program

 

The Department of Radiological Sciences currently offers a one-year clinical fellowship in Ultrasound and CT and MR Imaging. The fellowship consists of six months clinical rotation on interventional and vascular ultrasound, and another six months rotation on CT and MRI.

Fellows will receive experience in all cross-sectional studies of the head and neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and musculoskeletal system. They will also be exposed to vascular scanning and actively participate in image-guided biopsies and other interventional procedures.

Research is encouraged and fellows are required to do and submit at least one (1) completed research study.

Residency Training Program

 

The residency training program is a four-year training course accredited by the Philippine College of Radiology (PCR). The residency training syllabus focuses on the applications of basic radiological imaging as well as advanced imaging modalities such as ultrasound, mammography, vascular imaging, CT Scan, and MRI in the diagnosis and evaluation of disease processes and conditions. This program has been significantly enhanced by allowing residents to rotate to other general and specialty hospitals namely: Philippine General Hospital, Quezon City General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, and Philippine Children’s Medical Center.

The strength of the training program lies in its supervised learning and hands-on experience on routine, special and interventional procedures. There is unparalleled consultant-resident relationship creating a conducive atmosphere for learning.

Research is likewise encourage and as a compliance to the Philippine College of Radiology Residency Training Council requirement, residents must complete and submit at least one (1) case report and one (1) research study.

Other Short-Period Training Courses:

 

The department also provides short-period (2 to 6 months) training programs for radiologists and radiologic technologists in the following fields:

  • Interventional Radiology (fluoroscopy-, ultrasound-, mammo-, CT-, and MR-guided interventional procedures)
  • Vascular Imaging
  • Transrectal ultrasound of the prostate including transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy of the prostate

Trainees will have hands-on experience under the supervision of the consultants.
