ULTRASOUND SECTION

The Ultrasound Section is one of the department’s showcase. Manned by experienced and competent sonologists, the section continues to lead the way in ultrasound imaging not only within the institution but throughout the country. Its exceptionally high volume of studies, particularly the department’s research data on sonographic measurements, are being used as Filipino reference values by most institutions/hospitals in the country.

All ultrasound studies are doctor-performed. This is the section’s greatest strength since ultrasound imaging is highly operator dependent. If not done properly, many pathologies may be missed and normal variants maybe mistaken for an abnormality. And to ensure accuracy of results, there are always two doctors who will evaluate and assess the patient. This unparalleled quality standard measure assures you of fast and reliable results.

Equipment:

The ultrasound section is equipped with the top of the line ultrasound machines which provide quality images, thus, delineating anatomic and pathologic structures with ease.

To provide an efficient service to our growing number of patients, we have at present seven (7) ultrasound machines.

1. GE Logiq 400 MD
- with color Doppler capability for vascular imaging
- equipped with high frequency probes for imaging of small parts (thyroid gland, testicles, penis, breast, etc. )

2. Siemens Sonoline Adara
-can be used for biopsy procedures
-has a brachytherapy software for prostate seed implantation
-has an endocavity and curvilinear probes

3. Siemens Sonoline Omnia System
-in addition to B-mode and M-mode imaging, the system is integrated with pulsed wave spectral Doppler, Color flow and Power mode imaging. -equipped with curvilinear, linear and endocavity probes

4. Siemens Sonoline Elegra Imaging System
-in addition to B-mode and M-mode imaging, the system is integrated with pulsed wave spectral Doppler, Color flow and Power mode imaging
-equipped with curvilinear , linear and endocavity probes

5. Siemens Sonoline SL-2
- used for ultrasound-guided biopsies and interventional procedures like nephrostomy, percutaneous biliary drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, pericardiocentesis

6. Siemens Sonoline SI 200
- used for non-ambulatory and intra-operative ultrasound-guided procedures
- equipped with transrectal probe for ultrasound of the prostate gland with or without biopsy

7. Kontron Iris 880
- with color Doppler capability surfaces

8. Siemens Antares
- used for muskulo-skeletal, small parts (thyroid and breast), Transcranial Doppler (TCD) and Vascular Doppler studies
