The NKTI department of Pediatric Nephrology maintains a 4-bed capacity in the service ward. Its target population in health care delivery is continuously growing to about 5-10% annually. The department is composed of 6 competent consultants.

The four member fellowship, training in pediatric nephrology at National Kidney & Transplant Institute is accredited by the Philippine Society of Nephrology and the Pediatric nephrology Society of the Philippines for 3 years.

During the training the fellow will be accomplished in pediatric renal diseases and its care, renal replacement therapy and transplantation. The fellows are closely supervised with increasing participation and responsibilities as the individual fellow skills develop. Fellows are given the first hand in all procedures and care of the patients. The trainees will participate in conferences pertaining to pediatric nephrology. At the end of the first year training, each fellow are required to submit 1 case report and a retrospective study. On his last year, he is required to pass 1 prospective research paper.
