CRITICAL DIVISION
 

The Critical Care is composed of the Intensive Care Unit / Intermediate Care Unit, the Hemodialysis Unit, Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, Operating Room / Recovery Room and the Center for Special Services.

 

Intensive Care Unit

 
The Intensive Care Unit is located at the second floor of the main building adjacent to the Hemodialysis Unit. It has 8 cubicles provided with state of the art equipment like cardiac monitors which is connected to a central station monitor located at the nurses station, RO (Reverse Osmosis) Water lines for patients necessitating dialysis. Patient’s relatives are provided with a lounge to rest/ relax while their patient is confined at ICU. The Intensive Care Unit is manned by efficient, skilled and well trained doctors, nurses, and clinical nursing assistant who continuously provide quality care to our patients.
 

Intermediate Care Unit

 
The Intermediate Care Unit which is located at the far end of W3D at the third floor is an extension of the Intensive Care Unit to accommodate increasing number of critically ill patients. It has 4 beds equipped with cardiac monitors for efficient patient monitoring. The unit is also provided with a separate cubicle intended for critical patients who need to be isolated. Hemodialysis Unit

 

Building to accommodate regular out patient from 6am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday. At the second floor main building adjacent to the Intensive Care Unit is the other Hemodialysis Unit who accepts Emergency 24 hours a day. Please click Dialysis Center for more info.

 

Peritonial Dialysis Unit

 

The Peritoneal Dialysis Unit is located at the second floor main building at the far end of W2C and W2D. The unit accommodates patients whose modality management as prescribed by their physicians is Peritoneal Dialysis (CIPD/CAPD).

CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) Clinic is located at the second floor Annex II building parallel to the Hemodialysis Unit. Please click PD for more info.

 

Operating Room / Recovery Room

 

The Operating Room / Recovery Room is located at the Annex I building ground floor. Major and minor surgery cases are performed daily by expert surgical team such as the doctors, nurses, technicians.

Monitoring of post operative patients with minimum stay of 2-3 hours.

Rendered are Chemotherapy, Pain Management, Blood Transfusion, Endoscopy, Lithotripsy, and Urodynamics. The unit is being managed and headed by expert doctors with a team of well trained and skilled staff nurses and technicians. Please click CSS for more info.

Innovation in skills acquisition is the key toward improving nursing practice, acquire new knowledge and promote patient’s satisfaction.

The Nursing Total Quality Management Subcommittee utilizes accident and incident reports as guides for determining risk factors, corrective actions and identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvements. We apply the plan, do, check, act (PDCA) process as a scientific approach for problem analysis. Focus, analyze, develop and execute (FADE) is a similar process for quality improvement projects.

In order to promote learning, we create environments that are welcoming at NKTI. Our actions and attitudes reflect our commitment to supporting the newly graduated nurses and other health professionals through precepting and mentoring.

 

Wound Care Management Clinic

 
New strategies through use of a collaborative, participatory team- approach will be developed to provide a standard of care that meets the needs of our patients and to provide education for nurses about standards, assessment and resources that reduce sufferings, disfigurement, loss of productivity and alterations in body image.
