TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGISTS |

I. OBJECTIVE |
| |
To develop in a duly licensed Medical Technologist the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the practice of Medical Technology. And to train and evaluate future technologist for the division.
|

II. DURATION |
| |
Six months, uninterrupted.
|
| |
| III. NUMBER OF TRAINEE |
| |
As needed.
|
| |
| IV. QUALIFICATIONS |
| |
- Must have passed the Medical Technologist board examination;
- Must have passed the NKTI personnel examination.
- Previous externship or clinical immunology experience required.
- Background in research related field will be considered but not required.
- In good physical and psychological condition.

| V. CONDITIONS |
| |
- Training is free and therefore trainee has no obligation to pay the hospital for the said training;
- Hospital will not hold any responsibility for any accident or untoward incident that may occur;
- Trainee will be accountable for breakages or losses due to his/her negligence;
- Said training is purely voluntary therefore; they will not be entitled for any remuneration during their training period;
- Trainee should abide to all rules and regulations of the hospital; and;
- National Kidney and Transplant Institute is not obliged to hire the trainee after the training.

VI. PROPER UNIFORM |
| |
Male
- polo shirt, formal pants, white laboratory gown and leather shoes.
Female
- dress, white laboratory gown and formal closed shoes, or
- blouse with sleeves, white pants, white laboratory gown and closed shoes.

| VII. ATTENDANCE |
| |
- Trainee are obliged to have a perfect attendance during the course of their training;
- Sick leave/Emergency leave may be allowed, but trainee should inform the laboratory in such a case within 30 minutes from the start of his/her duty. Failure to comply this will mean extra duty
on their part;

- Immunochemistry Laboratory
- Cellular Laboratory
- Tissue Typing Laboratory
- DNA Typing Laboratory

| IX. ROTATION SCHEDULE |
| |
1 ½ months schedule in each section under the direct supervision of the Section Head in charge. During the period of six months training, the Technologist is required to learn the theoretical aspect of all tests available in the division. They are also required to adopt and perform the techniques and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), in the individual section of the division.

- Immunochemistry – To be able to perform all serum component determination of the different Immunoglobulin, complement level, Chemilluminescence and test utilizing antigen-antibody reaction.
- Cellular – To be able to perform cellular assay such as NBT, Electrophoresis and Flowcytometry procedures.
- Tissue Typing – To be able to perform HLA-A, B, C, Typing (Serologic Technique), Tissue Crossmatching, PRA (Screening and Specific) and Reagent preparation.
- DNA Typing – To be Able to do extraction of DNA and perform PCR based assays.

| X. PERFORMANCE RATING |
| |
Each trainee will be evaluated and rated by the Division Chief Medical Technologist and the Section Supervisors after each rotation on the four sections of the division. Performance rating will be noted by the Dept. Chief Med. Tech. and will be kept in the Laboratory file as reference for hiring.
